Sony Ericsson announced a new clamshell called Jalou. It’s not the Symbian-powered smartphone as we previously heard, but a fancy mid-range feature phone. It’s clearly targeted toward females as at 73mm it’s “shorter than your favourite lipstick.”
Specs wise, there’s a 3.2-megapixel camera on board, HSPA, GPS (U.S. only?), 2-inch QVGA internal screen, 1.3-inch 128×36 pixels external screen, Bluetooth, FM radio, media player, and a microSD memory card slot. Pre-installed apps include YouTube client and other Google stuff, IM and email clients, Walk Mate step counter. There’s also the so called Mirror Key to “check your hair before a hot date.” Sure, that will help. 😉
From the HSPA supported bands (900/1700/2100 MHz), we realize this baby can easily end up in T-Mobile USA’s portfolio. Release date is set for Q4 when interested users will be able to pick it up in either Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue or Onyx Black.
As for the special Dolce&Gabbana edition of the device — the so called Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana — it will come in “Sparkling Rose” complete with exclusive packaging and accessories: three silky rose satin bags and D&G branded headset with gold accents. Pre-loaded content include photography and video clips from the fashion company’s women’s Autumn/Winter 2010 runway show, with sneak peek footage from all the backstage action; as well as few themes and wallpapers.
Size wise, the Jalou measures 73x45x18.2 mm and has a weight of 84 grams… And now it’s time for some video action – the Jalou commercial. Enjoy!
