Vertu MVNO launches in Japan: $565/month, phone not included

Last December Dusan wrote about Vertu, Nokia’s premium line of mobile phones built by hand in Britain out of extremely high quality materials, possibly starting an MVNO in Japan and opening up a store in Japan. Nearly 9 months later, it finally happened. Launching today, the Vertu MVNO will be available to customers at a whopping 52,500 Japanese yen ($565) per month or 577,500 Japanese yen ($6,205) per year. You’re obviously going to have to pick up a Vertu device as well, and those things start at $5,000 and only go up from there. The service includes 24/7 concierge which you can dial at any time of the day, any day of the year; useful when you need your tentacle rape manga fix and can’t find the nearest comic book shop. A Vertu shop will also be opening up in the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi department store. And you thought your monthly bill was expensive?
