Google has just announced a new addition to the labs, called Fast Flip, which is essentially a news search for your iPhone or Android browser that lets you casually swipe through stories. Unfortunately, the service is currently limited to a few major publications, like the New York Times, Newsweek, and the Washington Post, but that’s a pretty nice start right out the gates. You can pick particular topics, the top stories, or search for your own interests. On the G1, I found it a little chunky, but it’s still impressive that Google’s able to do something like this in the browser alone, as opposed to launching a separate mobile app. To give it a try for yourself, head over to fastflip.googlelabs.com in your mobile browser.
If you’re using a BlackBerry Storm and cursing the lack of Fast Flip support, check out Viigo – they use the same gestures for skimming through stories in your RSS feeds.
