Opera Mini 5 Beta 2 was just released and is available for just about ever single mobile phone on the planet. New features include the ability to download files using a brand spanking new download manager, Opera Link to synchronize your bookmarks and notes between Opera Mini and Opera for your desktop computer, progressive loading, and many bug fixes.
What is progressive loading? According to the Opera Mini blog:
Progressive loading means that pages you load are sent to your device in ‘chunks’. Previously in Opera Mini, your page would be displayed once the entire page has reached your device. However, now your browsing experience will be faster and better, just like on your desktop! Please note that progressive loading only works using the socket protocol. Your connection will default to socket if possible.
Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2 for Symbian and Windows Mobile was also released, and includes the features listed above.
To download either of these versions, just open your mobile browser and type in m.opera.com/next
I’ve always loved Opera Mini, recommended it to everyone, and have been using it as my browser of choice for years. Check out my review of Opera Mini 5 Beta 1 here.
