Following pressure from Rogers, a British Columbia court has ruled that Bell can no longer make claims about being the most reliable network in Canada. Rogers’ case relied on the fact that Bell’s network hasn’t experienced the volume or the test of time to really warrant the title of “Most Reliable”. Other metrics, like speed and size were unaffected, although Rogers tried to take aim at them too, mainly on the premise that Bell’s network is shared with telus. If this sounds remotely familiar, it’s because Rogers had to make the exact same change in its wording after legal action from telus. telus itself seems to be free and clear of any similar attacks, since the brunt of their pitch surrounds network size. Down in the U.S., Verizon and AT&T have had a similar spat, but that mostly just degenerated into a marketing pissing match. Up here, it looks like everyone has finally got it out of their system, and can get on with figuring out how (or if they need to) beat wind on plans and service.
