RoyalTek have released their first pico-projector (you know, those tiny portable projector units), which is called the RPJ-2000. Here’s the low-down from my buddy Ron at picoprojector-info.com:
It’s a stand-alone projector (with no internal memory) that uses 3M’s 2nd-generation LCoS engine. It’s available now in Taiwan and in Europe (219 euro for the basic version). It got approval from Apple – being compatible with the iPhone and iPod (the connectivity kit costs 30 euro extra). It’s also very quiet, as it uses Quanta’s no-fan cooling tech. RoyalTek hopes to ship around 60,000 units next year – through their own brand, and through ODMs.
Nice bit of kit I’d suspect – these units really are becoming more and more affordable all the time. The really cool bit of associated news here though is that RoyalTek will be releasing 5 more projectors in 2010, one of which apparently is going to have a DTV receiver in it – now that, if it arrives in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup could be VERY interesting for fans indeed!
