At this point, Windows Mobile 6.5 is still a far ways off from being the intuitive mobile operating system it needs to be to take on the finger-friendly offerings from iPhone, Android and webOS. Microsoft’s latest update to the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform is incremental at best, but shows that the company realizes that their smartphone OS doesn’t have the aesthetic appeal to compete with other platforms. The company is at CES 2010 to show off, among other things, their Windows Mobile 6.5.3 OS update. As you can see from the video below, the new WM6.5.3 UI is slightly updated to reflect the design philosophy we first saw in the new Internet Explorer Mobile. The new homescreen moves the “Start” button to the bottom of the screen, in much the same way that IE Mobile displays its navigation buttons.
