It’s not an everyday’s scene to have a game which leaves the realm of computers/consoles. Tomb Raider, Mario Bross, Doom, Hitman, Halo and Max Payne are rare examples of games that were turned to movies and/or comics. And now we have the first iPhone game, Pocket God, to follow the route. Actually, it’s not the movie we’re talking about but a comic book.
Bolt Creative, the company behind the game, has struck a deal with Ape Entertainment to “port” Pocket God onto the printed page. According to the company’s CEO Dave Castelnuov, “A comic book series is a natural extension of the Pocket God brand. Ape Entertainment is the perfect partner to help bring our island to book form.”
The four-part comic mini-series will initially be released digitally, with a print version following soon after.
Ape Entertainment also seems pleased with the deal as they plan to engage existing 2.1 million Pocket God fans. That’s a number worth pursuing and considering the iPad release date is around the corner, they may be onto something. We’ll see…
