Verizon Wireless is continuing with its weekly app recommendations. This time, however, they are showcasing webOS applications that run on the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus. Without further ado, here’s what they recommend:

Business apps:

  • News: AP Mobile, The New York Times, NewsRoom ($4.99) and Engadget.
  • Top Stocks Lite – free real-time stock market information with prices, line charts, news stories and summaries on each company and index.
  • Expense Tracker – helps customers keeping track of their balances on a day-to-day basis. Price: $1.99.

Apps for students:

  • 3D Plotter – allows users to plot graphs of two-dimensional functions in 3D by entering the formula and the range they want to plot.
  • Translator – which can translate 45 languages relying on Google’s translation services. Alternatively you can visit Google’s website to use the service.
  • Periodic Table – works in both portrait and landscape mode, and costs $1.99.

Super-mom apps:

  • Shopping List – the $1.99 app is more than a simple shopping list app, allowing users to define each item with multiple attributes including name, price, quantity, aisle, multiple coupons, sales tax and notes. It also comes preloaded with a default store containing more than 600 frequently used items.
  • The Weather Channel – the idea is that moms should know whether they should grab an extra umbrella for the soccer game, though even non-moms can use the app to check out the weather forecast.

At the end of the press release, Verizon reminds us that the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus could be yours for $149.99 and $99.99, respectively after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a two-year contract.
