Following Angry Birds, we have another iPhone success story to share. The name of the game is Doodle Jump, it costs 99 cents and it has hit the 3 million paid downloads mark!
That’s more than two other popular titles – Flight Control and Pocket God, and I’m sure I’m not the only one impressed with the figure. The best thing is that it comes from an independent development house (as opposed to big name publisher) – Lima Sky.
In case you haven’t seen Doodle Jump, it’s an accelerometer based jumper which sees you guiding the Doodler on a “springy journey up, up, up a sheet of graph paper.” Along the way, you’ll be picking up jet packs, avoiding black holes, and blasting baddies with nose balls. It sounds ridiculous, but that’s only until you give it a try.
Finally, to further illustrate how addictive and popular the game is, here are some additional facts:
- Touch Arcade called it “possibly the best iPhone game ever created”
- It’s the number 1 paid app in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, Sweden and some other countries
- It’s featured by Apple in “Best Games of 2009”, “New and Noteworthy”, “What’s Hot”, “Staff Favorites”, and “Best Doodle Games”
- There’s an unofficial website dedicate to the game at doodlejump.com
We at IntoMobile love supporting the small guy while at the same time offering you something useful, funny or interesting. Lima Sky’s Doodle Jump definitely goes in that category. Grab it now! 😉
