Tomi T Ahonen gathers some stats from Telephia which states that in Q12007 63.7% of all mobile phone users in the states use SMS actively; data from CTIA says there is a 93% increase in text message traffic in the 1H 2006 compared to 1H 2005.

Verizon is the first operator in the states to reach the “1 SMS sent per day per user” mark of adoption, yet the UK had this happen 4 years ago.

What are the stats looking like now? 5 text messages per day per subscrier in Ireland, 6 in the UK, 10 in South Korea and as many as 15 in the Philippines!

For more interesting stats like this I recommend subscribing to the “Communities Dominate Brands” blog which has a near daily dose of interesting information about the mobile industry.
