Poland-based Psiloc has released a new plugin for its popular mobile travel application/platform – World Traveler, which come pre-installed on some Nokia smartphones.
The plugin is called Connect and it allows users to shift automatically between network access points, reducing both the time and hassle when travelling, or switching between multiple hotspots or 3G networks. The plug-in builds on top of Psiloc’s stand-alone Connect application which allowed the same functionality across applications, and was highly praised by the community. The idea with a dedicated plugin is obvious – you have different needs when traveling, and you may not want to use data when visiting some other country.
It’s not a free plugin, though – it costs 7.95 EUR per year. After that period ends, you’ll need to pay the license fee again.
Psiloc says the release of Connect is another step in developing World Traveler as an all-in-one platform for the mobile traveler. Earlier plugins included Hotelzon and Flight Assistant, which allowed users to book a hotel and search for flights, respectively.
World Traveler has more than 1.5 million users, with the number growing at a rate of more than 7,000 new users each day. The application works with most Symbian S60 3rd and all S60 5th Edition (touch) smartphones.
