Game of the Day: Touch Tanks for iPhone and iPod Touch

Touch Tanks for iPhone

I spent a few minutes this morning looking for a new, online multiplayer game to play around with. It wasn’t long before I found ‘Touch Tanks’ from the developers at FlipSide5. If you love top-down, shoot’em up strategy and action, Touch Tanks could be a winner for you.

Because Touch Tanks is a freebie, you will be presented with advertisements while setting up a new game, but really, if you can overlook this (and I’m sure you can), the game is really quite enjoyable. The game puts you in charge of your own tank, and it’s up to you to get out there and destroy enemy tanks. Numerous power-ups and upgrades are available in-game, allowing you to customize your tank the way you like. Gameplay is quite simple, with your navigation control on the left and gun on the right, you can hop right into this one and start shooting away. While the gameplay is easy, it’s the Plus+ network that makes this one really fun.

The Plus+ network connects you with friends and gamers all around the globe… enabling cool multiplayer gaming, global leaderboards, in-game accomplishments and a lot more. Enrollment in Plus+ is free and easy to do. No need to describe the enrollment process, if you download Touch Tanks, you’ll very clearly how to sign up and get gaming. Try it out, I think you’ll have a lot of fun!

Note: The developers have noted that some WiFi users with older routers may have some connection issues when trying to play over Plus+. The issue has been noted and a fix is on the way. Also, anyone running OS 2.2.1 will not be able to open the game. A fix is coming for this as well.
