Toshiba K01 clears the FCC

Toshiba’s Windows Mobile-powered QWERTY touchscreen-slider, K01, has cleared the FCC, giving us hope we’ll see it released sooner rather than later. The K01 is probably one of the most desirable WinMo devices announced to date. The trick is the fact that it combines a large 4.1-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen alongside a full side-sliding QWERTY keyboard. Yap, I want one, despite preferring other mobile operating systems over Windows Mobile.

What I like about Windows Mobile (and not about Android and iPhone OS, for instance) is the ability to connect my Bluetooth keyboard to a smartphone and type more comfortably. And while I’m on this, I hope Apple and Google will include the Bluetooth HID profile to the mix to enable the same thing (connecting keyboards) with their respective platforms.

Anyway, I already contacted Toshiba for a review unit, but since that was the prototype we’ve seen at the Mobile World Congress, they don’t have a working unit and couldn’t answer to my demand. As soon as the K01 is released, I’ll contact them again – have no doubts about it. 😉
