I admit, I’m still not convinced that I actually need a “mobile companion.” Still, if done correctly I may easily change my mind. For instance, just yesterday, we posted that Pocket Tunes is coming to Foleo. It’s an additional application for the brand new platform and certainly adds some value on top of the Palm’s proposition. However, in order to get me on board, Palm should add the following things:

1. Skype – I have the Nokia N800 and now-days I’m using it to Skype on an almost daily basis. There are many open WiFi networks around the city and I enjoy talking with my Skype buddies this way. I would demand to have the same function on the much bigger Foleo.
2. Flash 9 which actually works – again I’m going to refer to the Nokia N800 example. Last update for Nokia’s Internet Tablet among other things involved the latest version of Adobe Flash player. However, it’s impossible to get a decent frame-rate on YouTube. I guess that’s the problem with too slow processor (TI OMAP 330MHz). As we don’t know Foleo’s specs at the moment, I can only hope it will be able to play YouTube clips once Flash 9 is installed.
3. Utilities & Widgets – I really need small apps like calculator on a daily basis. Furthermore, I do like widgets — weather, world time, webmail notification, to-do list, notes — these are just the examples of the apps I’m using all the time and which help me get things done.
4. Tabbed browsing — yeah it’s that important!
That’s it. Hopefully, Palm will listen and even if they fail with the first Foleo, the next one will rock! In the meantime, Palm if you need a beta tester for a Foleo, I’ll be around. 🙂
