Nokia X3 heading to Verizon?

FCC has recently approved a mysterious Nokia phone marked as RM-687, featuring CDMA and EV-DO connectivity. According to Engadget, this baby is most likely heading to Verizon, due the fact that Sprint for some reason doesn’t carry a single Nokia device.

Further research (from Bluetooth SIG’s website) suggests the RM-687 is also known as the X3-01 (which I take as an X3 variant) and that it is made by Taiwanese ODM Compal.

Of course, nothing is confirmed at this stage, but that never stopped us from speculating, right? 😉

And if you don’t recall, the Nokia X3 is a mid-range music-centric device with a 2.2-inch QVGA screen, dedicated music control keys, 3.5mm headset jack, FM radio, Bluetooth, 3.2-megapixel camera and a microSD memory card slot. Plus there’s the mentioned EV-DD data that ensures some on-the-go web surfing and email checking. In other words, when released – Verizon will ask $50-100 for the handset with a contract.
