Opera Software keeps growing like crazy. Their latest partner is really big one – it’s Vodafone, which decided to pre-load a specially customised version of the Opera Mini web browser on its low-end phones. The move is backed by a string of affordable data tariffs designed to provide customers with worry-free browsing.
In terms of the customized experience, Vodafone’s “version” of Opera Mini will feature step-by-step, simple instructions in local languages, allowing even people with lower levels of literacy to use the Internet.
Initially, the new Opera Mini offering is launching in India, South Africa, Turkey, Tanzania and Egypt with other markets expected to follow in the near future.
Commenting on the new bundle offering, Vodafone Internet Services Head of Emerging Markets, Jonathan Bill, said: “With this product, we can transform even basic handsets into very capable internet browsing devices, enabling millions of people to enjoy the social and economic aspects of the internet that many already take for granted. By significantly enhancing the customer’s internet experience, this initiative will help to boost local economies by encouraging entrepreneurs to create a range of locally-inspired business models and services.”
