Somni Game Maker is an interesting iPhone app that allows anyone to make its own iPhone game. Don’t think you will be able to make just about anything — you are limited to topdown room-based levels.
There are predefined rooms (up to 64 on an 8×8 grid), 200 icons, background music, and the ability to import photos from your iPhone into the game. Once that is set, you need to set up interactions between the items, rooms and a character, which moves between rooms.
And that’s about it. It’s a straightforward way to make an iPhone game. The best part is that once you finish the game, you can send it to Somni’s developers, who could eventually decide to allow other people to download it from within the app.
Somni Game Maker is not a free app, but it does have a free component called Somni Game Player, which can be used to play different games made using the application.
