BlackBerry 9670, Atlas 8910 Spotted on Camera Again

The first glimpse of the BlackBerry 9670 clamshell gave us an idea of what to expect, but some more eye candy has popped up giving us at very least a sense of the phone’s scale. Some screenshots reveal the 9670 is packing CDMA, Wi-Fi and OS 6.0,  but it doesn’t say a thing about 3G – 2G connectivity might keep the price down, but will kill the mood for a lot of buyers. The BlackBerry 8910 Atlas, which is sitting next to the flip, is on EDGE and Wi-Fi, running OS 5.0. That’s reassuring, since we had seen pictures of an apparently early-stage 8910 without Wi-Fi or a trackpad. It seems like the 8910 Atlas will be as incremental an improvement as the Bold 9650 was from the Tour 9630 – I certainly hope it manages to up the memory to 512 MB as well.

At first glance, the 9670 seemed monstrously huge, but next to the more traditionally-sized BlackBerry 8910 Atlas, it might not be so bad after all, especially given the pull of RIM’s first 5 megapixel camera. On top of that, the 9670 will offer a 360 x 480 display, Wi-Fi, microUSB slot, and take microSD memory cards. Meanwhile, the 8910 is rumoured to be taking advantage of Evolved EDGE, and use a 3.2 megapixel camera, A-GPS, Wi-Fi
