CardStar launched an app for iPhone last summer that allowed you to store all of your loyalty card info on your phone, knocking down the girth of your wallet considerably, and now it’s available on Android and BlackBerry handsets. By punching in your membership number, the app generates a barcode that vendors can then scan to get your points/Air Miles/discount/whatever. Extra information, like account information, website, phone number, store locations, and support can also be included from the vendor side – Blockbuster, Best Buy, Delta, PetSmart, and Staples are just some of the chains that have hooked up with CardStar. Participating partners will also occasionally offer coupons and deals to customers who use the app – not a bad incentive at all!
It sounds like an extremely useful (and simple) app with plenty of potential. Even though app memory is at a premium on the BlackBerry Bold 9000, I’m going to try to carve out some room for CardStar – you can grab the BlackBerry version here, and other download links are below, if you want to give it a shot yourself.
