Now THIS is the kind of news I like to wake up to! After hopping out of bed to pop open my iPad and check the ‘ol email, I tapped open the App Store as I often do, hoping the darn thing would work (for those that don’t know, I’m in Canada… hence, no on-device international App Store for iPad, for the longest time!). This morning, wouldn’t you know it, the on-device App Store was up! Yeehaw!
After some quick checking it looks like the good folks of Canada are not alone, Apple has flicked the switch on all on-device international App Stores for iPad. Great stuff.
I’m more than pleased that I do not have to read ‘the App Store is not supported in your country’ popup anymore. Forget that, now I can shop all the apps I like. Speaking of which, now that users in many more parts of the world can get their hands on App Store goodness, be sure to check out Daniel’s Top 11 iPad Games You Need To Be Playing.
With international availability slated for May 28th (pre-orders are already on), Apple is no doubt hustling to bring these new stores up-to-snuff in time for launch. Should be interesting to keep an eye (at least on the Canadian one) up until launch day. I’m sure we’ll see changes, more apps, and more enhancements.
The question is, for those international users that already have their hands on an iPad… Are you going to spend all day browsing through your countries’ new App Store? Or are you going to hold off and keep those hard earned dollars in your pocket? Has the iPad been the’revolutionary’ and ‘magical’ device you were hoping it to be? Be sure to sound off in the comments, as I’d love to hear from you. I can’t wait until the launch next weekend!
