Here’s a quick note for all of the potential International iPad customers out there. We’re all well aware that launch day is coming up fast, on Friday, May 28th. For some it couldn’t come soon enough, and I suppose Apple was/is thinking the same way.
International Apple Store were slated to open at 9 AM on Friday, but after a recent check of my local Apple site, we now see the doors are set to open at 8 AM instead. Neat. Looks like hard-working individuals the world-round will be able to get their hands on the iPad a little sooner than they expected. Perhaps even soon enough to get it, and still make your way to the office that same morning? (If you want to do that, better camp out the night before muchacho!)
If the iPad is coming to your area of the world, and you’re caught up in all the hoopla, then by all means check out your local store, heck, even line up for the launch… But I want to make sure I tell you about Apple’s much needed (and very awesome) reservation system… One that I assume they’ll have in place for international launches as well. In my mystical quest to hunt down an iPad, I found myself in Minneapolis. While there, and after calling all of the local Apple Stores, I found that ALL locations were sold out. But not to worry. If I had an iTunes account, I could reserve my choice of iPad online, and when it arrived in-store, Apple would email me and I could come pick it up. So, that’s exactly what I did. I made the reservation on the Monday, and by Thursday the iPad was sitting in the depths of a local Minneapolis Apple Store, waiting for me to nab. Of course, it won’t sit there forever, I believe I only had 24 hours to pick it up. But still, the system worked great, and I highly recommend you consider this option if you’re in no rush to grab one, or simply want to avoid what will no doubt be INSANITY this Friday.
Note: Apps? You want apps? No worries, international iPad stores went live last Thursday.
