Omium is a two player shooter for iPad

A company called Nimblebit wants to fully take advantage of iPad’s large screen. They think there’s room not for one, but two players on Apple’s table. Hence, they came up with Omium, which is a pixel-art space shooter game.

You (and your buddy) can play in three modes with one player controlling the hero ship while the other one sends hordes of enemy ships in.

The three modes are:

  • Dodge – player two taps the screen to make ships appear, while the other player holds one finger on the screen to move the ship, and taps with a second finger to open fire.
  • Infinite – similar to Dodge, with a difference that enemies which disappear off the bottom of the screen scroll back around and appear at the top again.
  • Juggle – which is more tactical as it sees both players having limited resources, and cannot simply fire off ships and bullets constantly.

I know this may sound kinda confusing and honestly even stupid, but Omium is actually fun as you’re about to see from a short demo video after the jump.

The game is still not in the AppStore, but should be available pretty soon…
