Last month Kaspersky Lab published the first part of its latest analytical report, “Evolution of Mobile Malware: An Overview” by Alexander Gostev, a senior virus analyst. It should be a must-read, as mobile malware can harm you in many ways. Today’s malicious applications have a range of functions, including spreading via Bluetooth or MMS, sending SMS messages, infecting files, providing remote access to smartphones, blocking memory cards, stealing data, and installing other malicious programs.
Luckily, with the version 9, Symbian introduced enhanced platform security. However, the threat isn’t 100% eliminated as users are still not aware enough of the potential threats to their smartphones. Therefore, I urge you to read this report and gain a bit of understanding of how mobile malware applications work and how to protect from them.
