Nokia reaches 32% market share in Taiwan

July 23, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - 2 Comments

A huge congratulations to my favorite company in Northern Europe. Apparently the Taiwanese love your stuff, buying 600,000 units in June versus 580,000 in May. That boosted market share from 30% to 31.8%. Who is number 2 and 3? Motorola and Sony Ericsson with 17.3% and 17.2% of the market. [Via: Digitimes]

$10,000 for a mirror that can display text messages

July 23, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - Leave a Comment

Trust me, your friends will think you’re much cooler if you spent $10,000 on 10 Nokia E90 Communicators and gave one to each of them. This brilliant idea comes from Robert Stadler of the French design group Radi Designers. They call it the +336+ mirror, but no amount of marketing can make any person think…

With AGPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofucs, QR reading support and stereo speakers, we all wish we could live in Japan and understand the language enough to use these multifunctioning beasts. More pictures at Just Another Mobile Phone Blog

Video: Motorola Z8 review by Shiny Shiny

July 23, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - Leave a Comment

Shiny Shiny is the Engadget of the UK, except sexier. With no offense to Steve Litchfield’s highly technical review of the Z8 in episode 37 of the Smartphones Show, I can watch Suzy talk about just damn near anything and still enjoy it. Something about the UK accent does it for me. [Via: Tech Digest]…

According to a report by Fierce Wireless, worldwide revenue from data services excluding SMS reached 11.3 billion dollars last quarter, it was only 8.1 billion last year. SMS traffic rose by 50% which lead to a 23% increase in revenue. This is THE market to be in and I only wish the people in Silicon…

Picture: Not your typical slider phone, the BenQ Siemens SL98

July 23, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - 2 Comments

The BenqQ Siemens SL98 is not a typical slider. It is a candybar phone with a screen that sits inside the body. I’m not saying I don’t like it, I just have to play with it before passing final judgment. How robust is this in the long term? How well can the screen hold up…

Video: Sony Ericsson P1i review

July 21, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - Leave a Comment

Phone Arena takes the time to review the Sony Ericsson P1i in this 4 minute review, you should check out the textual review that accompanies it for more details. The device itself looks a little hcunky and I’m not too sure about the whole two letters on a rocker key configuration, but the specs are…

The Sony Ericsson T650 hasn’t even come out yet, but it has already been cloned in China

July 21, 2007 by Stefan Constantinescu - 1 Comment

One of these days I need to visit the land where copyrights are laughed at. Things like this amaze me. With a 2.2 inch 176×220 display, 1500 mAh battery life, microSD support and partly dimensions of only 101x42x10 mm I bet you wouldn’t be able to tell this was a clone if you just happened…
