Samsung announces world’s smallest 8.4 MP CMOS image sensor

If it’s not TI, it’s Samsung that brings us some neat technology. This time they’ve announced an 8.4 MP CMOS image sensor (CIS) with a 1.4 pixel design. The new chip comes with a high signal to noise ratio (SNR), a key measure of overall image quality.

The problem with the all touchscreen based devices is that the display is unreadable on sunlight. Apparently, Apple’s iPhone should have some kind of a sensor to fix this, by automatically adjusting the brightness/contrast ratio of the screen.
