Using a lock screen with a password becomes a little annoying when you have to constantly unlock your device just to use it, even from the safety of your home; unlock with WiFi wants to change that. This small application is a background app that tries to change the way your phone works when you’re in different areas.

Let’s take a look at what makes this new Android application special, and review some of the good and bad aspects of using it on your device.

Available in the market: Android Market

The Good
  • There's no other application in the Market that allows your phone to bypass the lock code when you're at home or a designated safe zone, so this is a great concept to save you time.
  • Even though this was released just a few months ago, it's seems to have little known bugs and the review in the Android Market proves that.
  • The setup process for each network is very simple, and there lots of options.
The Bad
  • The application isn't available for all Android phones

Features & Functionality

The features this application offers are not limited to the lock screen function. While the main attraction is the ability to turn off password required unlocks while in a safe area, the applications comes with other features that make it a great battery saver amongst other things.

The application allows you to set a lock delay, for when you're not at home. This is useful because let's say you were texting a lot and don't want to have your password come up everytime you want to reply, this allows you to adjust the amount of time it takes before the phone is password locked again. Another useful feature is the ability to have your phone automatically turn off your GPS when you're home. This is a great battery saver because you're not going to be using Google Navigation to find your bathroom, so why would you have your GPS running in the background and waste your battery.

This application keeps it simple when it comes to features, and being only a few months old, I'm sure it'll see more great features before summer is over.

Conclusion

If you're a person that's phone is password protected but are also a heavy texter, this is the first application that lets those two things go hand and hand. Being able to have your phone automatically disable your lock screen security when you're in an environment you think your information is safe (work, school, home, etc.) is a great feature and this app seems to do it great according to the 195 people that gave it a 5/5 rating in the Android Market.

Recommend

Yes, after testing this out I'd say it's a great solution if you're looking for an application that makes getting access to your phone while in a specific area easier, and since there's a trial version available, there's no reason not to give it a shot if it fits in your life.
