Having instant access to the information that matters to you is what Smartphones are all about, and WeatherBug Elite wants the weather to never be a surprise to you. Coming into a market populated by homescreen’s that offer free weather information, free weather applications, mobile websites that offer weather information, WeatherBug is hoping to still win your love with their application. Their hard work has been seen by many that buy this and have made it one of the top paid apps in the Android market, and an application I use myself.

Available here: Android Market

The Good
  • The today's weather information has never been so detailed. The page gives you more information than the typical weather report would mention, and that means you have everything before getting out of bed.
  • 7 Day forecast is very great for planning ahead, and hourly information make planning out your day that much easier.
  • The $1.99 is well worth it for the improved features.
The Bad
  • This application has a lot of bugs for Samsung Galaxy S users, and it's been reported countless times to has a force closer issue that hasn't been fixed.
  • Having this application run in the background is power consuming and adds to the drain factor of your device
  • The user interface needs to be updated to something a little more attractive like they have in the iOS client.

Features & Functionality

Features make this weather applications unlike no other in the market. Most weather apps give you a forecast, current weather, daily high and low, and maybe if you're lucky hourly information. WeatherBug does much more than that. In their small application, they've managed to put hourly information for weather up to 7 days away from your current data and time. This means if I wanted to know how my flight on Saturday next week would be like, what type of weather it'd be experiencing, this application can tell me "Saturday at 2, you'll be soaked with thunderstorms at 72 degree weather. This makes the application the most have for people that like staying ahead of weather both current and future.

The other great features this application has is for people that live where extreme weather happens. The applaction has an integrated Doppler radar images and the app gets the latest  severe weather alerts for your geo-location. This means you get lightning strike and alert of any bad weather coming your way, and for me that's good because I rarely watch TV to see the alerts and I live in tornado alley, which is server weather central.

Conclusion

This is the only weather application I personally would pay for time and time again. The features make it a most have, but sadly it's not that attractive in the Android client, so you'll left looking at information on something that might hurt your eyes. The application has a few bugs to iron out, but they usually don't affect anything other than the radar.

Recommend

Yes, If you're looking for a weather application that gives you great service for a great price, but don't own a Galaxy S device; Yes I'd recommend it, because it seems like the best the Android Market has to offer.
