Simple question: Why isn’t Nokia working with Google for their mapping information?

That’s about as simple a question as I can ask.

Google’s database is vast compared to Gate5′s. Not to mention Google’s information is updated constantly.

Nokia is already working with youtube (which is now a part of Google), why not work with their mapping department?

I haven’t tried out Smart2Go yet, but from the reviews I’ve seen all I can see are people bringing up the fact that the POI database is lacking.

I’m not saying Nokia’s purchase of Gate5 was a bad decision, I’m just wondering why aren’t they working with Google?

Let me be the first to say I will gladly use ad supported Google software if it meant having access to arguably the world’s most expansive database.

Mashups are fun Nokia, join the party!

Agree- I’d love to see live traffic overlayed with my Maps among other details. As I understand it (from a direct chat) the group that manages the search / directory is different from the actual navigation mapping team. They need to cut deals and then bring that in as it happens… apparently there’s fair a bit in discussion.

Just loaded it on my E61 – looks great on the larger screen and of course the keyboard is always nice to enter search and route queries.
