Patents behind the iPhone

During his Macworld keynote, Steve Jobs said that Apple used over 200 patents for the technology behind the iPhone. Apple’s CEO only pointed out the multi-touch, leaving us guessing which other patents he had in mind.

Patents behind iPhoneLuckily for us, Mad4MobilePhones has been busy researching, and they came up with a list of 21 patents they consider to be the most important. The patents indicate innovative ways to download and manage podcasts, beam media from the iPhone to your TV as well as a lot of patents regarding the touchscreen and user interface.

So without further a due, here’s their list of the 21 most important iPhone patents.

    Proximity detector; Although not completely overlapping, this was a while back, the basic ideas of APPLE’s claimed invention was implemented in a mobile phone from Ericsson presented in 2001 called R520m. Really cool, it was used if for turning off handsfree when picking up the phone and putting it to the ear. Also for snoozing the alarm.
