RIM to open BlackBerry APIs; Partners with Gameloft

RIMThe BlackBerry owners should be delighted to see RIM driving the BlackBerry platform to the next level. Two news were announced…

The first news from the Canadian company includes opening of the BlackBerry APIs to the third party developers, a move that could significantly increase the number of available applications for the platform.

The other news is somehow strange to comprehend, as it aims to bring games to the business-centric BlackBerries. My guess is that with the introduction of Pearl, RIM jumped into other markets, and suddenly got the younger crowd using their devices.

Anyhow, the mobile game developer Gameloft signed-up for ISV Alliance program, and the BlackBerry owners could soon expect to see such titles as Block Breaker Deluxe, Asphalt Urban GT 2, New York Nights and Midnight Pool, hitting the market. (via: MobileIndustry)
