Samsung’s next budget-friendly flagship is moving steadily through the certification pipeline. The Galaxy S26 FE has now appeared on India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database, showing up under the model number SM-S741B/DS. The “B” tag confirms it’s an international variant, and “DS” means dual-SIM support is on board.
On its own, a BIS listing doesn’t tell you much. But it does confirm the phone has cleared a key regulatory hurdle in one of Samsung’s biggest markets. Combined with recent appearances on benchmark platforms and the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) database, the picture is becoming clearer: the Galaxy S26 FE is getting close.
For context, the Fan Edition lineup has become an important part of Samsung’s strategy. These phones let buyers get a near-flagship experience at a lower price, and they typically arrive a few months after the main S series. The S25 FE followed the same pattern, and the S26 FE looks set to do the same.
Here’s what the leaks and certification filings point to so far:
- Chipset: Exynos 2500, paired with 8GB of RAM
- Software: Android 17-based One UI 9 at launch
- Update support: Seven years, taking it all the way to Android 24 (One UI 16)
- Design: A possibly redesigned camera module, hinting at a visual refresh rather than a complete overhaul
The seven-year software update commitment is worth highlighting. It matches Samsung’s current policy for premium devices and puts the S26 FE well ahead of most Android phones in this price range. That’s a strong selling point for buyers who want longevity.
As for timing, a fall launch looks likely. Based on how Samsung has handled previous FE releases, August or September is the most probable window. Before that, Samsung has a major event lined up for July 22 in London, where the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Watch Ultra 2 are all expected to make their debut. The S26 FE will follow later in the year once the foldable launch cycle settles down.
There’s still no official word from Samsung on specs, pricing, or availability. But with BIS certification now in the bag and benchmark data already circulating, the remaining pieces should fall into place over the next few weeks.
