Samsung has recently patented an innovative hinge design that should allow the mobile phone to open in a tablet PC manner, in a number of directions.

Samsung patents a hinged device

“…An object of the present invention is to provide a hinge device for a portable wireless terminal with a pair of housings in which a selected housing is connected to the other housing so as to be rotate about the other housing by 360 degrees…”

Is Samsung preparing a next-gen communicator device, such that should be more of a mobile computer than a phone? It’s still early and at this stage we could only speculate. Still, I wish it to be true.

Samsung, need some beta testers? Count me in! :)
