Dell gets it: Direct2Dell blog enhances their press release

Before I began covering Nokia and getting enthralled in the mobile telecommunications industry I was and still am a computer geek. Today Intel launched their latest mobile platform called Santa Rosa and every company that builds notebooks published their respective press releases announcing new products based on it.

You can read Dell’s here, but what I want to share with you is their latest blog post. I can’t embed the video, which is a shame, but I want to note the fact that Dell is finally starting to "get it."

Nokia releases several phones a quarter. Depending on your preferences and tastes you care about some or even all of them. Why not get a Nokian to show off these new devices and share them with the world on an official Nokia blog?

People often criticize Dell for various things, but as far as their internet marketing strategy is concerned they have completely turned themselves around in the past few months. They have a full blown blog, forum, videos and best of all the Idea Storm, a concept which should be used as a template for the S60 Wishlist immediately.

I don’t even like Dell, I’m a ThinkPad man always and forever, but I really like how they are using the internet to get their message across.

Nokia on the other hand … first it was the PR team who chose the Moby song that got my blood boiling, then it was the group behind the term "multimedia computers" who obviously didn’t think that one thru and now we have the CEO saying Nokia is "an internet company" when in reality the only thing they do right in that department is the S60 browser and the internet tablet series.

The S60 blogs are awesome, but there is so much more to the company that I and the rest of the Nokia enthusiasts around the world would like to hear about.
