The battle between Nokia and Qualcomm is still going strong. The latest development is another counter-suit, filed by Nokia, that alleges Qualcomm of infringing on Nokia’s patents. This time, Nokia is claiming that Qualcomm’s Brew smartphones and MediaFLO chipsets are infringing on Nokia’s patents.

Nokia filed the counter-suit in a Texas district court and is seeking damages and injunctive relief. Nokia also stated, on Monday, that they believe Qualcomm’s patents are invalid because the patents had been filed by other companies prior to Qualcomm. Furthermore, Nokia believes that none of its products are infringing on Qualcomm’s patents.

Qualcomm’s Senior VP and legal counsel, Bill Sailer, stated that “This is a way for them to compete with MediaFlo (and Brew) not in marketplace but through litigation.” The US-based chipmaker is also asking the court to delay their ruling on the latest suit until an arbritation panel can work out the licensing dispute between Nokia and Qualcomm.

Actually, we quiet amused by the legal bickering these two companies are constantly participating in. Now, we just have to figure out how to get these two crazy kids to get along and share their toys
