Forum NokiaForum Nokia in conjunction with Orange and the Symbian Developer Network today announced the first global contest for mobile application development for S60 on Symbian OS smartphones – “Open C Challenge“, to encourage open source and freeware developers to use Nokia’s Open C environment. The idea is to bring new, innovative mobile applications to Nokia’s market-leading S60 platform.

Developers can submit up to five applications in two categories: 1) Porting existing open source assets to Open C; and, 2) Native Symbian C++ development in Open C. During the contest which is already underway and ends at the Symbian Smartphone Show in London on October 16th and 17th, contestants will be able to access webinars, training sessions, and peer-to-peer discussion boards.

If you’re a developer we encourage you to sign up. After all, you can win cash prizes totaling more than $20,000, an exclusive invitation to distribute application via Orange, fast track premium membership in the Orange Partner programme, free Symbian Signing, free year’s membership in the Forum Nokia PRO developer program, and… of course, free exposure on IntoMobile. :)

The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application.
