Verizon release dates for Motorola Q9m and UTStarcom XV6800 leaked?

By Will Park on Tuesday, August 7th, 2007 at 3:07 PM PST In Devices, Motorola, Rumors, Verizon, Windows Mobile

With the recently leaked image of Verizon (NYSE: VZ)’s August lineup, it was just a matter of time before someone leaked actual August release dates for Verizon’s Moto Q9m and UTStarcom (NSDQ: UTSI) XV6800.

The pictured spreadsheet is an alleged leak of an internal Verizon document. It seems to indicate that the Motorola (NYSE: MOT) Q9m will hit Verizon’s network on August 20 and the UTStarcom XV6800 will drop on August 15.

Verizon leaked launch dates for Motorola Q9m and UTStarcom XV6800

We’re not going to put too much faith into this leak (it is just a spreadsheet afterall), but we are pretty confident that the release dates couldn’t be too far off from our expectations.

We’ll keep you posted, stay tuned!

Okay folks, what is all the fuss about? I’m thinking of going with the 6700, but wondering about the 6800. What is it that the 6800 will do that the 6700 can’t? And why should I care? Sorry, I’m not as up on it as most of the rest of you. Thanks!

:!: Verizon is full of sh :!: t :!: I’m sure they must be losing a crap load of customers to other carriers not afraid to release new technology. I have been waiting for the XV6800 since last year and chances are we won’t see the 6800 until next year which by then will be out dated. They should just start working on the 6900 instead, hell that could get release before 2012 if they start now :!: Maybe

  13. Grant says:

Ridiculous! I’m so tired of waiting. You know you are getting desperate when Qwest wireless starts to look like a good idea.

  14. Craig says:

The release date for the XV6800 is about as tangible as a fart in the wind.

I have one of these after using a 6700 for about a year. The 6700 had rickety little buttons for nav on the front which broke and rendered all navigation useless. The 6800 has low profile buttons on the front which I hope will last longer and not cause issues. The antenna is also built into the form instead of poking out the top like a telephone pole. Other than that and WM6, this is a clone of the 6700. The micro SD card is STILL not protected, so you’ll probably shoot those out onto the ground regularly, just like the 6700’s miniSD card. The edges are lined with landmines of buttons including now a strangely positioned click wheel. If you are left handed, this phone will probably be nicer. It’s not bad, but all but requires bluetooth to use. The cheap Plantronics 220 headset from Wal-Mart (~$27) makes it a lot easier to use.
