Apple just put a face to your kitchen counter. The company announced Apple HomeView, a 7-inch smart home display that recognizes up to six different users by their faces and serves each one a personalized experience. It’s the most ambitious thing Apple has done in the home space in years, and honestly, it looks like they mean business this time.
The hardware is clean. Aluminum body, Liquid Retina display, a domed speaker base connected by a stainless steel hinge, and four color options: silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray. Brightness goes from a room-filling 500 nits all the way down to 0.3 nits for bedside use. There’s also a wall-mounted version, available in silver and space gray, using mounts from Schneider Home.
The bigger story here is Siri AI. Apple is calling this a completely rebuilt version of Siri, powered by the latest Apple Intelligence and capable of real back-and-forth conversation. Pair it with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and it pulls personal context from your Calendar, Messages, and apps to give more relevant answers. Conversations also sync across your Apple devices through iCloud, so you can start a chat on HomeView and pick it up on your iPhone.
- Face recognition for up to six users, each with a personal Home Screen
- Adaptive display adjusts based on how far you’re standing from it
- FaceTime, Messages, Apple Music, smart home controls built in
- Customizable clock faces including a live Snoopy animation
This is Apple’s direct answer to Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub, two products that have owned this space for years. Pre-orders start today, with availability on November 13. The smart home display market just got a lot more interesting.
