Cell phones are not dangerous to bees?

Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) not caused by mobile phonesOk, here goes another round of “cell phones are dangerous/not dangerous.” While mobile phones may still be able to affect hearing loss, cancer, and hospital equipment malfunction, it seems that the radiation from mobile phones is not responsible for killing honey bees.

The Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) that has killed 50-90% of commercially farmed bee colonies is apparently less correlated with mobile phone radiation and more strongly correlated with Israeli acute paralysis bee-virus. It seems that the virus was introduced through imported bee colonies and royal jelly, and transporting the honey bees in trucks can place stress on them that makes them more vulnerable to contracting the disease.

So, worry not, intrepid mobile phone user. You’re no longer risking the lives of all those cute, little honey bees – just cancer, hearing loss, and the lives of critical-care patients.
