Folks from Player X seem ready to rock as they’ve just released AdMe’s GuitarStar ad-supported mobile game worldwide. The new game features what they call “beat-matching” technology that synchronizes visual movements with the beat of the underlying musical soundtrack, hence allowing mobile gamers to “play by feel” rather than taking their cues solely from what they hear. In addition, GuitarStar features music from several upcoming rock, pop and hip hop artists, even though we just can’t imagine guitar being used alongside the last mentioned genre.

Player XAnd the result is that “ad-supported content” arena gets more crowded every day. It’s important to note that Player X promised sponsors various ways for promoting their products toward consumers. How will users react? If the product/brand placement is done correctly (i.e. not too annoying), I’ve nothing against such games. On the other hand, paying a small fee for the mobile game is always an easy way out of all the advertising. We’ll watch the whole ad-supported mobile content space and keep you folks well informed. Stay tuned…
