d_endu.gifRichard Bloor interviews Jeanne Kolesnik, Business Development Director at Epocware to find out how the business is, whether UIQ or S60 is bringing in the most revenue and that the thing holding back sales is the lack on consumer education about the operating systems running on consumer’s devices. A grim story is told at the end where by simple coincidence Jeanne was showing her Dutch teacher the S60 Dictionary on her phone, to which her teacher, carrying a Nokia E50, had no clue that she could event install applications on their device! All Windows Mobile and Palm devices have the operating system’s logo on the actual hardware, when are we going to see an S60 logo on our devices Nokia?

I don’t remember where I read it, but the S60 guys are considering that possibility. They’ve certainly done a lot of brand building in the last two years: the new logo, the website, the A Night with S60 Events etc. I think they recognise the issue. The thing with the consumers is that they do not read the ****ing manual, and even if they did, its not like one of the first things in a S60 phone manual is a mention of 3party apps. It should be on the first page of the manual, something like: “Gongrats on your new Nokia, loaded with features and open and ready for more!” :)
