GIGA-BYTE GSmart t600

I’m not actually sure what’s GIGA-BYTE strategy when it comes to Europe, but they seem to struggle to push their phones in a big way. Lately they’ve announced the launch of the GSmart t600 Windows Mobile smartphone on French MVNO Neuf Cegetel.

We don’t have any information about the pricing yet, but we know one thing - the GSmart t600 is one great device. There’s the 2.6-inch VGA touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, 520 MHz CPU, DVB-T digital TV receiver, microSD memory expansion slot and whole lot more. Windows Mobile 6 Professional is running the show…

Finally, it’s important to add the GSmart t600 will be available as a bundle Neuf’s service plan, under the commercial name of TWIN TNT.

Neuf (Number 2 or 3 ADSL ISP in France, depending if you count absorbed ISPs or not ;-) ) has been touching GSM since a moment now, and it’s not their first “Twin” phone, the original was a Linux running soap bar phone. And the “Twin” name because it’s a GSM+WIFI phone which connects to GSM and “Neuf-Box” ADSL modems thus using SIP accounts attached to the subscribers ADSL line.

Free, the real Second ISP (in self aquired subsribers) in france, also permits SIP on all SIP-able phones (with more or less openness depending on where you connect from afterwards, but there’s a good density of Freebox’s now, their homemade ADSL modem, I sync at 24Mbs :-) + TV + Free Calls Worldwide @ 30€/month)

Though, none of them can do wifi to gsm roaming like Orange permits (with a very narrow choice of UMA capable phones, with the obligation of having Orange’s ADSL and Phone contracts)… And Orange is very expensive in the end!

We have to let people know: No Orange is not better than other, they have crappy service aswell, it is not a Public service anymore and even their hotline is served from abroad now (Free is all in Paris ;-) )

Hum… If only french read english :-/
