Sony Ericsson’s Q1 2008 financial figures are out and they don’t look too rosy. Sure 22.3 million devices have shipped, a 2% increase from Q1 2007, but with the average selling price of said devices falling to 121 EUR compared to 134 EUR this time last year, the high end phones that do make money sold in much fewer numbers. Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) blames the drop in profits to increased spending in R&D, to that I say are you buying all your scientists a triple 30 inch Mac Pro and feeding them gourmet food while they have their scalps massaged by Swedish supermodels?

Maybe we’ll get the “we are an experienced company” next..
