Palm Foleo

There’s a chance Palm will revive its “mobile companion” Foleo. According to The Register, the Treo maker could release the discontinued device with WiMAX radio to make it work with Sprint’s XOHM network.

Apparently, Palm has recently invited beta testers which are at the same time existing smartphone owners to test an “innovative new product.” I don’t see much innovation in the upcoming Treo 800w as some of the HTC devices on the market sports all of the features the future Treo should have. In addition, such requirements as “heavy to medium e-mail user” and “travel for work with their phone” suggest something’s more at stake here.

Now if only Palm could price it correctly and use the proper CPU in the Foleo 2 — i.e. Intel Atom — I would instantly buy one. Finally, it should be marketed as a sub-notebook like the Asus eeePC, rather than a “mobile companion” to convince people there’s much more you could do with it, rather than just check the email…
