LG Secret gets DivX certification

I’m not exactly sure why it’s important for LG to certify it’s devices with DivX, but apparently they like the idea. So following Viewty, the newly revealed LG Secret (aka KF750) is getting the “DivX Certified” badge, allowing users to “load their favorite DivX videos onto the phone’s memory via USB or memory card and enjoy quality viewing.” It’s like you can’t convert clips and watch them nonetheless?

Anyway, LG Mobile’s VP of Global marketing strategy team, Stated Chang Ma, commented: “LG recognizes that DivX video playback is a feature that consumers appreciate and rely on. As our newest phone to offer high quality DivX technology, the LG Secret will allow consumers to do more with their media, watching it how and where they want to watch it.”

“It’s like you can’t convert clips and watch them nonetheless?”

It’s quite a lot easier job to copy the clip you just downloaded from the net to your card and just watch it than to start converting it first… plus, there’s no quality loss from re-encoding although from a screen that small I don’t think poor quality is much of an issue.

Now if only my Nokia would be able to play divx (and xvid) too so that I wouldn’t need SmartMovie anymore…

I say ” F ” this phone. The bottom line to this phone is it has a stupid 2.4 inch display. As a owner of a 3.5inch iphone & 2.8 inch touch cruise, why the F would I want something thats smaller. 2.4 is a joke and a waste of money.

    @ asfaasf

Well, some handset makers like Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Apple provide you with a software that makes that conversion as seamless as humanly possible. Simple drag-and-drop files and you’re ready to go.

  • bazza

The wait for conversion is mostly unacceptable especially with large files, and doubling up of the same file in diferent formats use up valuable drive space.

Quicktime Pro isnt free, Nokia Video Converter (or whatever its called now) is too basic and doesnt give good results, and Sony are assholes (lol…jus’ kiddin…..or am I? ;) )

So yeah, LG are doing a good thing, at least your’e sure it will work. Plus, i dont see whats wrong with them pointing it out, every other manufacturer does so with special features…….e.g. my phone rivals psp and ds cos’ i have open gl, hear me roar!! certify me.

    Its all good.

Pimpin, that comment sounds like something straight out of the comments on GSMArena, which make them totally unbearable to read (they usually read something like, crappy phone, no wifi, no 3g, no touchscreen, design is crap etc etc and it is like this on EVERY handset low end or high end).

Yes, this handset has a smaller screen than the iPhone. So what? Should every phone be the same size and have the same screen size as Apples entry into the mobile market? I don’t think so, why should every phone released from this point be exactly the same? This is a slim (and in some respects) better specced handset than the current iPhone is (and don’t get me started on missing features such as mms).

I like the look of this phone, 5mp camera with 120fps vid recording (which is a little ott but great for slowing down clips for sending as mms/youtube) nice design and decent materials used.

LG really seem to be picking their game up as of late, something Motorola should be doing.

  • dusanb

    @ MJ

Couldn’t agree more with that “Motorola should be doing” part. LG and Samsung are eating Moto’s marketshare like crazy.

  • pimpin

    Yes I am back,,,lol.

Ok Look,,,let me just keep it real wit you.

I dont want everything to be like an iphone,,,sure…I can accept that.

BUT,,,I do regret going from my 3.5 inch screen to my 2.8 inch screen HTC touch cruise.

WHY? Man,,,once you experience the use of a 3.5 inch screen there is no going back in my personal opinion.

I try and watch the high performance media that my HTC puts out but know Im immediately sensitive to the fact that I have to somewhat squint cause the damn screen is smaller relative to the 3.5. Then I think about how much more I paid for the cruise vs the iphone and get more pissed.

Now I would never get anything less than a minimum of 3.2 inches for a phone. Especially now that I know what its like.

Then you got this LG Secret,,,Im sure very high dollar phone,,,with bangin media specs…on a what?? 2.4inch screen….come on man. You got to be freakin joking.

Your gonna be squinting the whole time your using this thing.

Its just a shame that,,,having been there,,,and bought the t-shirt,,,,that people would waste there money on specs,,,, and then have it on a 2.4 screen.

I guess I look at it like this….Why would you look for a V-10 engine,,,leather interior,,,power seats,,,surround sound system,,,and then have it put all into a Geo Metro sized car.

anyways,,,,pay your $600.00+ for this phone and enjoy your 2.4 inch Divx,,,hsdpa,,whatever,,,squinting sessions.

don’t forget…. this phone supports tv-out 30 fps, 640 X 480. With other words, most of the divx movies will look like DVD quality on normal tv sets! It also supports 8gb micro sdhc cards … So it’s quite a nifty gadget

  • miss yafa
