Three Palm devices to get firmware updates

Just when we reported that Alltel’s Treo 755p is getting the ROM update, thanks to TreoCentral we’ve become aware of updates for other Palm’s devices – the Treo 700wx, Sprint Centro, and the Verizon Treo 755p. Let’s briefly go through each of the updates, shall we.

  • Treo 700wx will get the Windows Mobile 6 Professional (why not 6.1) update this summer! The upgrade will be available on Palm’s support website for Treo 700wx owners only (Treo 700w won’t work). Once the update is installed, customers will not be able to revert back to Windows Mobile 5.0.
  • With the firmware version 1.06, Sprint Centro users will get some neat enhancements including improved Versamail (Gmail setup with IMPA support and better Exchange Active Sync Push support), faster AOL instant messenger, better mobile voice control, improved audio experience.
  • Finally, Verizon Treo 755p firmware 1.08 is primarily a bugfix update which “improves the phone application, stability, and device usability.”
