Unlocked iPhone 3G hits eBay

Of course it has. In this day and age where just about anything you can imagine is posted for sale on eBay, it’s not that surprising to see an fully unlocked iPhone 3G. Following on the unlocked iPhone 3G offer from Hong Kong retailer Alibaba, a slightly higher-priced unlocked iPhone 3G is available from eBay.

We’ve heard of SIM-based hardware unlock solutions, but pricing and availability details at the time were slime to none. Then the Pwnage Tool 2.0 was released by the iPhone Dev Team, only to be missing an iPhone 3G unlocking tool. And, then we saw the video demonstration of an iPhone 3G getting jiggy with non-official GSM networks. But, again, we’re left the dark as to how and when mere mortals could get their hands on an iPhone 3G unlocking solution.

Does the seller of this unlocked iPhone 3G have an inside line on the latest hardware- or software-based unlocking solution? Are they re-selling unlocked iPhones from Europe? We can’t say for sure, but we’re definitely not going to be putting our own money on the line to see if this particular iPhone can lock on to a T-Mobile cell-tower in our area. Excuse us if we don’t rush to put in a bid for an unlocked iPhone 3G with a “Buy It Now” price of almost $1,500.

But, if anyone out there has the wherewithal and curiousness to find out just how legit this unlocked iPhone 3G offer really is, give the eBay auction a once-over and hit the “Buy” button. Oh, and let us know if the offer turns out to be legit.
