Like any other smart company, fring wants to use a major event like the Olympics to promote its offering. Being a small company prevents them from buying expensive media space, but as an underdog they’ve managed to find their way around and get piece of the glory.
Their idea was to create dedicated fringAdd-ons that would keep the fans of the Olympics well informed and entertained, while at the same time promoting their expandable mobile VoIP/IM client.
As a fring user, you can choose to receive live, local language fringfeeds from:
- Alexander Rusakov – Russian gold medal contender who will micro-blog from Beijing.
- Oleg Zaporozhchenko Jr. – The Russian Olympics team coach and international category judge!
- Fei Wen – Malaysian Olympic volunteer and coordinator of the onsite fring efforts.
- Tania Teoh – Malaysian Olympic volunteer and avid fan of lots of sports including swimming, volleyball, badminton and more.
- Udi Moshel – Israeli sports enthusiast who will be keeping us all updated with sports and social updates across the board from the fields and other online circuits.
- Agus Jose – Spanish sports and travel devotee will micro-blog with the added insight “only a professional psychologist can offer.”
To keep in the loop with the Olympics with fring, all you have to do is to choose the fringAdd-on from fring’s in-client catalog by restarting fring; then click “Options” > “settings” > “manage add-ons”, and select one or more feeds. Russians will be micro-blogging in Russian (beginning August 13th), Malaysians and Israeli in English, and Spanish in Spanish (beginning August 15th).
