XPERIA announced for September 30 launch date

You can allay your fears of a December or January launch of the highly anticipated Sony Xperia X1, folks – the press release has gone out and September 30th. is the date for folks in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, Middle East, and Latin America. No love forus in North America, however, presumably due to the host of problems Windows Mobile 6.1 has been experiencing on the handset. While the hardware’s nothing to sneeze at (3.2 megapixel camera, quad-band EDGE plus 3G, aGPS, Wi-Fi, 800 X 480 3-inch touchscreen), the real goodies lie in the new Panel UI that can totally reconfigure how you interact with your phone with the press of a button. It presents a lot of opportunity to developers, as well as setting the bar for interface customization. This thing has been a long time coming, and no doubt plenty of fans will be happy to get their mitts on the final product.
