Remember that post I did a few days ago about contract free iPhones and possible home activation? Well, Apple store employees have continued to comment on the whole home activation thing, and it looks like we’ll be able to take advantage of the new activation shortly.

The new home activation system would be a bit different than the original. The new system is designed to help reduce the amount of time it takes to activate and sign-up new or existing customers in store. You’ll be able to pre-activate your iPhone at home by entering your cell contract details… or social and billing info if you’re a newbie. THEN, you’ll need to head over to the Apple store (or perhaps even an AT&T store?) to purchase the phone. The iPhone will be ‘unbricked’ at the store.

Hopefully the new system works well if it is indeed launched.
